What is TIG Brush® technology?

The TIG Brush® Stainless Steel Weld Cleaning System is an easy-to-use, portable kit which cleans stainless steel welds and restores stainless steel surfaces quickly, safely efficiently and cost-effectively. The system uses a proprietary electro-chemical process, combining low-toxicity fluids with a patented power supply and unique brush design to produce superior results. It provides one-step cleaning and passivation (tested to international standards), requires little user training, and gives welders complete control over the surface finishing of their work. In most applications, the TIG Brush eliminates the need for the highly toxic and hazardous acids (“pickling paste”) that were traditionally used for this operation.

Extensive laboratory testing has confirmed that Ensitech’s weld cleaning process passivates stainless steels in accordance with ASTM international standards. The intense heat generated during welding of stainless steel causes oxidization and chromium depletion in the alloy’s surface layer, as well as unsightly heat tint around the weld area. Independent testing by Gauge Industrial and Environmental, using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), has shown that cleaning with a TIG Brush and genuine TIG Brush fluids removes detectable oxides from the weld zone and returns chromium levels in the surface layer to the levels found in the un-welded surface. The tests found cleaning with a TIG Brush to produce results equal or superior to pickling paste, with the safety of TIG Brush technology.

Marking & Etching of Stainless Steel

The TIG Brush can also be used to indelibly mark and etch stainless steel products with identifying marks such as logos, part numbers and barcodes. Marking has many possible applications including product branding, asset identification, assisting with parts ordering, and recording of maintenance work. Using a special marking head (a solid electrode in place of a brush), combined with a felt pad and appropriate fluid permanent marking of stainless steel is fast and easy.
